About SatlasSatlas is an AI-powered tool by the Allen Institute for AI that helps you explore and analyze changes on Earth using satellite images enhanced with AI annotations. It uses monthly geospatial data to track developments like marine and renewable energy infrastructure, as well as shifts in tree cover. You can see examples such as offshore wind farms in China and Denmark, deforestation in the Amazon, logging in Washington State, and wind farms in Scotland.
A standout feature is Super-Resolution, which sharpens low-quality satellite images into high-resolution views worldwide, letting you examine locations in greater detail. Satlas is built on advanced AI models trained with a massive dataset of over 30 TB of imagery and millions of labels.
All AI-generated geospatial data is freely available for download, and the tool also shares its AI models and training labels to support further research.
